
TRANSLATION THEORY AND PRACTICE DEPARTMENT

Translation Theory and Practice Department is one of the leading departments of the Faculty of Philology. In 1994, the Translation Department was established, on 17 October 2005, by Order No. 169, it was renamed as Department of General Linguistics and Translation Theory. Later, on November 6, 2018, the Department was renamed as Translation Theory and Practice Department. The educational process of the Department is based on a three-level program of education and is carried out in the following educational programs:
- Вachelor's degree: 6B02307 “Translation Studies”;
- Master's degree: 7M02302 “Translation Studies”;
- 7M02307 “Digital Translation”;
- РһD: 8D02307 “Translation Studies”.
The teaching staff of the Department includes 16 persons. It is a professional team with great scientific and educational-methodical capacity. The Head of the Department is PhD Diana M. Akizhanova. The teaching staff includes 5 Doctors of Sciences, 1 Candidate of Sciences, 6 PhDs, and 4 MAs. The members of the Department participate actively in writing manuscripts and teachings aids. They publish research articles in peer reviewed scientific journals and participate in scientific and practical conferences held locally and abroad.
Teachers and students of the Department actively participate in events held at the University, Faculty and student hostels. The Department also operates a student’s club titled “Young Translator”. Graduates of the Department are demanded professionals in contemporary society and work for the benefit of independent Kazakhstan.
