Achievements of the Department of Kazakh Linguistics
The educational programs developed by the Department of Kazakh Linguistics are highly valued by the professional community and employers. Every year, thousands of applicants aspire to enroll in the philological programs of L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
The educational programs 6B02305 – Kazakh Philology and 7M02305 – Kazakh Philology, developed by the department, ranked 1st place in the independent NAAR (ARTA) ranking in 2023 and 2024. In addition, according to the rating of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Atameken,” these programs also took first place nationwide in 2024. In the international QS subject ranking in the field of “Linguistics,” the Eurasian National University ranked 101st in the world in 2024.
Students of the department are also distinguished by their active participation in scientific and creative activities. Under the guidance of faculty members, students regularly win prizes at national and international Olympiads and scientific competitions. For example, at the XVII Republican Subject Olympiad in the field “6В037 – Philology (Kazakh),” held at Suleyman Demirel University, the team from L. N. Gumilyov ENU won 2nd prize. The team included 4th-year student Zholdybai Altai, 3rd-year students Orkenkyzy Ayaulym and Kumar Altyn. The team was supervised by PhD, Dr. Kuanyshbek Karimuly Kenzhalin.
The faculty members of the department are also recognized with various awards for their scientific and pedagogical achievements. In particular, Professor Zh. A. Zhakupov is the recipient of the title “Best Researcher,” while Professors G. Sagidolda, Sh. Kapantaikyzy, K. K. Sarekenova and K. T. Bibekov are laureates of the “Best University Lecturer” grant.
In 2025, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan awarded Professors G. B. Mamaeva and G. O. Syzdykova the medal “For Contribution to the Development of the Native Language.” Professors B. Abdualiuly, K. Sarekenova and A. Beisenbai were also awarded the “Akhmet Baitursynuly” medal. The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan awarded Professor Sh. Kapantaikyzy the medal “Honored Worker of Education.”
