
International cooperation
The development of international cooperation with the leading research centers and universities of the world is one of the priorities of the department. The Department of Foreign Languages cooperates very closely and productively with the CIS universities, namely, Arabaev Kyrgyz State University. Since 2015, the department has hosted KSPU graduate students of the Faculty of Philology for internship. Over the past three years, more than 15 undergraduates from the Arabayev Kyrgyz State University have been trained at the Department, where they attended classes of professors, conducted research under their supervision, became familiar with the library stock and the resources of our university.

In 2023 L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University signed cooperation agreements with the Higher School of Humanities, Ugra State University (Russia) and with Department of the Practical Course of the English language, Osh State University (Kyrgyzstan). Along with this, in 2024 the cooperation was established between L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and Karabük University, Turkey. To this day, a number of scientific events and projects are carried out jointly with the above-mentioned higher education institutions.

The academic mobility of the faculty members has been actively developing aimed at exchange of experience and knowledge. Under the Erasmus Mundus program within the period from 2013 to 2017, the faculty members completed their scientific internships in internationally recognized research centers and universities in the world: Master of pedagogical sciences, senior teacher Tazhitova G.Z. (Sweden, Uppsala University), candidate of pedagogical sciences, Assoc. Professor Sagimbayeva J.Ye. (Austria, Johannes Kepler University, Linz), Master of pedagogica sciences, senior teacher Nurbekova G.Zh. (Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany), candidate of pedagogical sciences Kurmanayeva D.K. (University of Deusto, Bielbao, Spain), сandidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Kassymbekova N.S. (Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany).
In 2025, Senior Lecturer Chulakova Z. U. participated in a conference at Pembroke College, University of Cambridge (Cambridge, United Kingdom), where she delivered a presentation entitled “Linguistic and extralinguistic factors of brand naming in Kazakhstan.”

Under the Erasmus + program, in 2017, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Sagimbayeva J.Ye. delivered a course of lectures on intercultural communication at the SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Poland), and candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Tussupbekova M.Zh. gave a course of lectures on the methodology of teaching foreign languages at the University of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain). Moreover, associate professor Sagimbayeva J.Ye. did research internship at the University of Cadiz (Spain). In 2020 19 teachers of the department successfully completed a 72-hour advanced training course for teachers in the direction of "Innovative educational technologies and didactic models" as part of the ERASMUS + project "Modernization of higher education in Central Asia using new technologies" (HiEdTec).
Under the Bolashak program, faculty members earned master's degree, that is 2013-2015 Smagulova M.G. (Germany, Hamburg, University of Hamburg), 2014-2016 Mukhanova B.Kh. (Germany, Goettingen, University of Georg-August). Furthermore faculty members completed their internships under the international program "Bolashak": In 2013-2014 candidate of pedagogical sciences Kurmanayeva D.K. (University of Reading, United Kingdom), senior teacher Zarkesheva A.Ye. on the research topic "Innovative technologies in teaching a foreign language" (University of Leiden, Leiden, Netherlands), Master of Pedagogical Sciences, Senior Lecturer Nurbekova G.Zh. completed a scientific internship on the topic “New Challenges and New Priorities in Teaching Foreign Languages” (Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany), Master of pedagogical sciences, senior teacher Burkitbayeva A.G., master of philological faculty, senior teacher Niyazbekova A.A., (School of Business, Montreux, Switzerland). In 2020 Sultan D.G. Master, Senior Lecturer at KIA FF became the owner of Bolashak international scholarship and was enrolled at Stanford University in the specialty CAH22-01-01 "PHD in Education Policy". In 2021-22 academic year within the framework of “500 scientists” program “Bolashak” ass. professor Tussupbekova M.Zh. and Ph.D. Akizhanova D.M. at the University of Minnesota (USA); in 2023-24 academic year candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Mukhtarkhanova A.M., Ph.D. Kurmanaeva D.K. at the University of Michigan (USA) completed internships. The teachers visited various educational institutions in the United States and workshops at the host university and gained extensive experience.

The faculty members have been awarded Goethe Institute and DAAD scholarships. 2013 - 2018 the following teachers of the department completed professional development courses: Senior Lecturer Zhussupova G.M. (Goethe Institute, Schwebisch Hall, Germany), Arystankulova G.U. (Goethe Institute, Munich, Germany), Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Ustelimova N.A. (Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany), Master of Pedagogical Sciences, Senior Lecturer Nurbekova G.Zh. (Goethe Institute, Frankfurt am Main, Germany), Mukhanova B.Kh. (Goethe Institute, Germany).
In the period of 2022 - 2025 Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages Tussupova G. K. received an online scholarship from the Goethe-Institut. Moreover, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Tussupova G. K. and Aubakirova A. K. (Goethe-Institut, “Aufgaben planen, interaktiv unterrichten” — 72 hours) completed professional development courses.
Under the Orleu program, the faculty members do their proffesional development courses both in CIS countries and far abroad: senior teacher Nurdybaeva A.K. (ISEP University, Porto, Portugal), senior teachers Idrissova M.A., Abdimaulen G.A., Tolegenova Z.B. (Omsk State Pedagogical University, Omsk, Russia), senior teachers Dyusengalieva A.A., Khamzina A.Kh, Smagulova B.G. (Kazakh Ablai khan University of International Relations and World Languages, Almaty, Kazakhstan).
As part of close cooperation with international universities and organizations, guests are invited annually, who in turn share their experience and knowledge. In 2019 Foreign Languages Department of the faculty of Philology of L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian national University invited an expert on the methodology of teaching English as a foreign language PhD Thomas Paeffgen from SES-Senior Experten Service.
From February 20 to 25 in 2025 under the agreement between the Faculty of Philology, Foreign Languages Department and Karabük University (Turkey), Professor Asım Aydin came as a guest and gave his lectures (PhD) for students and teachers.

Also, the faculty of the Department of Foreign Languages regularly improve their qualifications by studying and participating in various foreign courses. In 2020-2021 the teaching staff of the department passed international advanced training courses: Ph.D., associate professor Mukhtarkhanova A. M. successfully completed the online course without credit "Academic listening and note-taking", approved by the University of California, Irvine and offered through Coursera; Ph.D., associate professor Kassymbekova N.S., Doctor of Philosophy PhD, associate professor Kurmanaeva D.K., Ph.D., associate professor Mukhtarkhanova A.M., Ph.D. ass. professor Sagimbayeva Zh.E., Ph.D., acting associate professor Tussupova G.K., candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Tussupbekova M.Zh. completed a course on training experts in the evaluation of textbooks and educational and methodological complexes (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Hellenic Republic), PhD, associate professor Balkhimbekova P.Zh., senior teacher Vatutina Zh. P. (Infourok, Smolensk), Ph.D., associate professor, doctor of philosophy PhD Kurmanaeva D.K., (Institute of Computer Systems, Odessa), Ph.D., associate professor Mukhtarkhanova A.M. (Arizona State University, USA)
In the second half of 2022 members of the Department Kasbayeva G.S. in collaboration with foreign colleagues R. Imanjussip, B. Senay from Bursa (Turkey), Nurbekova G.Zh. and Tazhitova G.Z. in collaboration with a foreign colleague Karabalayeva G.T. from Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) published scientific articles in the journals of the Republic of Kazakhstan, included in the list of KKSON MES RK. A lot of teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages passed the online seminar "How to get published in scientific journals", Odessa Polytechnic National University Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. In October, Otyzbayeva K. Zh. passed the advanced training “Competitiveness of Universities in the QS Subject Ranking Brussels, Belgium” at ENU. L.N. Gumilyov; in October - November Niyazbekova A. A. and Nurlybai A. M. passed "Teacher Development Certificate" in Education First; in September Tussupbekova M. Zh. completed a 36-hour Assessing Language Learners’ Communication Skills via Authentic Communicative Performance Tasks course at CARLA Summer Institute University of Minnesota; in December, Nurgalieva U. S. and Mussina S. K. passed an international online training “Development of a research university - experience of European higher educational institutions” (72 hours), Strasbourg University, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
In 2023 Senior Lecturers Zhandildinova A. M., Ilyasova A. K., Zhanaeva Zh. A., Tanesh B. successfully passed and received certificates in 3 modules of Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test. In 2024 most members of Department have taken courses in TESOL, Learning to Teach Online, Understanding Research Methods, New Learning: Principles and Patterns of Pedagogy, Orchestrating Whole Classroom Discussion and other topics from Coursera platform. Also, PhD Tazhitova G. Z. took the course “Academic Writing: From Essay to Research Paper Workshop” at the University of Missouri; Senior Lecturer Otyzbaeva K. Zh. completed training at TESOL International Association.
In 2025, the teaching staff of the department continued their professional development activities. In particular, Head of the Department, PhD Balkhimbekova P. Zh. completed a 48-hour training course entitled “Linguistics and Language Education in New Formats of Multilateral Interaction” at MGIMO University (Russian Federation) and was awarded a certificate. Also PhD, associate professor Tazhitova G. Z. (World TESOL Academy, Coursera — 140 hours), candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Mukhtarkhanova A. M. (World TESOL Academy, TESOL — 120 hours), Senior lecturer Zhussupova G. M., and candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor Ustelimova N. A. (L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Easy English — 72 hours) completed professional development courses.
Thus, the teaching staff of the Department of Foreign Languages, by systematically integrating into the international educational environment, continuously enhances its professional competence and actively implements modern pedagogical and language teaching methodologies in the educational process.
