Achievement of the department
After the Republic of Kazakhstan gained independence, relations between the countries of Kazakhstan and China are strengthening day by day. This, in turn, increased the demand for Chinese language specialists in the Kazakh labor market. In this regard, on January 13, 2011, L.N. By order of the rector of the Eurasian National University named after Gumilyov, the Department of Chinese Philology was opened at the Faculty of Philology. In 2015, our first graduates graduated, got jobs and entered the master's program.
Since its opening, the Department of Chinese Philology has been training specialists in the double degree program with Shanghai University, which is one of the best higher educational institutions in the world, for two years in a row. In the first two years of the educational process, students study at the Eurasian National University, and in the remaining two years at Shanghai University. Students who complete the four-year program of study will receive diplomas from both universities. A special educational program for the double degree program was prepared and approved by both parties.
After graduation, our graduates work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Defense, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in China, the national companies "Kazakhstan Railways", "KazMunaygas", Kazakh-Chinese joint oil and gas enterprises, representative offices of national companies of the Republic of Kazakhstan in China, the companies ASTANA LRT and Air China.
About 20 professors and teachers work at our department, most of them are young people, one teacher of Chinese is constantly working in the team. All teachers of the department are highly qualified specialists, and all of them were educated in universities of the People's Republic of China. Teachers also go to China every year for internships. At the same time, qualified specialists from Chinese universities come to us to give lectures and exchange experiences. Currently, the department has published 4 monographs, more than 20 textbooks, 10 articles in authoritative international publications, more than 50 articles in publications of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the same time, one of the teachers of our Department conducted scientific research on postdoctoral work in China. Every year teachers of the department prepare students for various language competitions, such as the "Chinese Bridge", republican and international competitions. Over the past three years, students have shown themselves as winners of the Grand Prix and prizes with the best results.
An important activity of the National Research Council is the conduct of scientific research. The Department of Chinese Philology annually holds round tables and scientific seminars. So, on May 31, 2019, the I International Conference "Chinese Science in Kazakhstan: History, Present and Future" was held. In 2020, the II International Conference "Sinology in Kazakhstan: History, Present and Future" was also held. And on April 20, 2021, an international seminar on the Chinese language was held. In addition to such conferences and seminars, scientific seminars are regularly organized at the department. November 24, 2022 Ph.D. Akbarkhan Daulet held a scientific seminar on the topic “Results of cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in the field of education within the framework of the One Belt, One Road” project. On February 9, 2023, Associate Professor of the Department Zylkybekuly Bekkozha held a seminar on the topic “Methods of Adaptation of Chinese-Kazakh Poetry”, and on February 20, Associate Professor of the Department Akhmetbek Gulzhan made a presentation on the topic “Differences and Features of the Modern Chinese Language from the Classical Ancient Chinese Language”. On April 11, 2025, the XX International Scientific Conference for Youth and Young Scientists "ǴYLYM JÁNE BILIM - 2025" was held. The Department of Chinese Philology organized section No. 6.7 on the topic "Chinese Philology and Lexicology: new directions and methods".
There is a student exchange program between the Department of Chinese Philology and the United National University of Beijing, Beijing University of Foreign Studies, Xi'an University of Foreign Studies, Shanghai University, Southwest China University, Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, Shenyang University. There is a student exchange program with these universities. Over the past 5 years, more than 100 students have completed internships at these universities under this program. An agreement on the program "two Diploma" was concluded with Shanghai University, according to the agreement, a student admitted to the Eurasian National Universityin the specialty 6B02311-"Foreign Philology: Chinese Language" will study in the first and second years in ENU, and the third and fourth years of the Shanghai University, and receive diplomas from two higher educational institutions. The first graduates of the double diploma are released. Also, the department is in close contact with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Kazakhstan, the Confucius Institute at the university.

Student achievements:
On November 17, 2024, at the World Student Competition of "Chinese Poetry", held by Shanghai University, students of the Department of Chinese Philology Raimbayeva Gozal, Glukhiy Valeriya, Millat Ayaulym took the honorable 1st place.
On December 18, 2024, Valeriya Glukhiy, a student of the Department of Chinese Philology, won the 2nd prize in the international competition "The Best Student of 2024" among scientific and educational institutions, organized by the National Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (NACSIR).
On November 17, 2025, at the World Student Competition of "Chinese Poetry", organized by Shanghai University and the Nanjing City Library, students of the Department of Chinese Philology Valeriya Glukhiy and Millat Ayaulym won the Grand Prix.
Valeriya Glukhiy, a 4th-year student of the Department of Chinese Philology, successfully passed the HSK level 6 exam and showed high results.
